Welcome to the Office of the Lemont Township Clerk. The clerk serves as the official record keeper for the Township. My office is charged with maintaining all minutes and agendas, which document the actions taken by the Town’s elected Board of Trustees. The Office of the Clerk also manages all FOIA requests made of the association.

Responsibilities of your Lemont Township Clerk
(60 ILCS 1/Art. 75)
- Maintain all records, books, and papers of the township and file all certificates or oaths required by state statute.
- Administer all oaths of office for township officials
- Shall serve as the Election Authority for all Township Elections.
- The township clerk shall annually certify to the county clerk the amount of taxes required to be raised for all township purposes.
- The township clerk shall be ex officio clerk for the highway commissioner and shall have the powers and duties as provided in Article 6 of the Illinois Highway Code.

The Lemont Township Clerk, Christine Zielke, is an elected Township official who has been serving the Lemont Township community since May 2025. The Clerk is a non-voting Board member, except in the case of a tie vote to fill a vacancy on the Township Board. The Clerk is responsible for taking the roll call on all ballots.
Except for General Assistance cases, the Township Clerk is the keeper of all Township records. The Clerk is responsible for the preparation and posting of meeting agendas and notices. The Clerk keeps accurate records of all Township Board meetings and maintains records of the Board’s Executive (closed) Sessions.
As ex-officio Clerk for the Highway Commissioner, the Township Clerk maintains all Highway Department records. The Clerk witnesses bid openings for both the Township and Road District. The Clerk must attest to all Township and Road District payments approved by the Township Board.
The Lemont Township Clerk, along with the Deputy Clerk, serves as Freedom of Information Officers for the Township and Road District.
The Clerk is the local election authority and is responsible for accepting petitions concerning local elections and referendums. The Township Clerk and Deputy Clerk are Cook County Deputy Registrars and are available to register voters.
